This is definitely abnormal behavior, it looks like Postfix is unable to access certain blacklisted servers.
On your computer, try the following command:(
nslookup is still frequently installed, or may be installed with
dnsutils or a similar package.)
Optional answer:Name: 127 .0.0.2.zen.spamhaus.orgAddress: 127.0.0.11
If the command phrase has expired, the blacklisted DNS server between your server is unavailable. If so, check if other DNS lookups are working as expected (for example,
I suspect that some software is blocking access to this DNS hosting space, or that your server is connected to send too many requests. The latter seems unlikely given the accurate timestamps from afar in your journal. However, all of your requests can be sent through the DNS server of your main ISP. This device may reach the limit set by theBlacklisted customers and thus be blocked.
You can first verify this by contacting the spam server directly:
nslookup 127.0.0.2.zen.spamhaus.org a.ns.spamhaus.org
If this succeeds, but the default search for your service fails, it means that your resolver is blocked by Spamhaus by default. Be sure to install a full fledged caching DNS server.
Instead, I find the following types of messages in the Postfix log:
17:40:55 smtpd: warning: 18.104.22.168.b.barracudacentral.org: rbl lookup failed: hostname or domain name not found. I am trying to figure out if there is something wrong with my setup, or if these messages (as I have not read anywhere else) are just a little weird, with the note that the sender is absolutely not blacklisted by the specified service. Of course, some (probably all) of the emails that generate these messages are clean and will actually route correctly with successful Postfix.
